Math can be daunting for many students and at Yama Tutors, we have experienced tutors that can walk through each problem and enable understanding of its core principles. Below are elements within each grade level curriculum that we are expert in:

Grades 1 to 7:

• Arithmetic, Fractions, Algebra, Equations, Linear Relations, Spatial Relationships, Order of Operations, Graphing, Financial Literacy

Grade 8 to 12 (Pre-Calculus, Calculus):

• Discrete Linear Relations, Pythagorean Theorem, Data Analysis, Probability, Statistics Polynomials, Spatial and Proportional Reasoning, Quadratic Relationships, Trigonometry, Limits, Intervals, Derivatives, Integrals

We can work with the student on their English comprehension, speech, and writing skills in all grade levels. Our experienced tutor will first assess for both reading comprehension and writing of the student to focus where efforts are most needed. Below are some elements within each grade level curriculum that we are expert in:

Grade 1 to 7:

• Literary Elements, Structure of Stories, Reading/Oral Strategies, Vocabulary, Writing Processes, Sentence and Paragraph Structure, Grammar, Persuasion and Argument

Grade 8 to 12:

• Genres of Text, Multi-paragraphing, Syntax, Rhetorical Devices, Elements of Style, Citation Techniques, First Peoples Texts, Usage and Conventions

We will help with general science subject from grade K to 9 and specialty subjects such as chemistry, physics, and biology from grade 10 to 12 with focus on post secondary entry requirements. In addition, we have experience in AP or IB level science courses to enable student's pursue in bridging to post secondary university.

It is a pivotal moment when a student is going from elementary to high school, therefore we would like to help them through this transition. High school is the foundation for post-secondary education and it doesn’t matter what the subject is, we have the experience to teach it and make it easy for the student so they can be comfortable and develop the right learning process early on.

We can help students with subjects in social studies from grade 8 to 12 with a focus in Canadian government, history, economics, First Nations, political studies, philosophy, and geography.

We can help students prepare for national and international standardized tests. We specialize in SAT, SAT2, ACT and SSAT preparation going into post secondary schools (US/Canadian/European universities). In addition, we can help with TOEFL/IELTS examination preparation.

We will listen to the parent's and student's needs then after various assessment techniques, we can focus our attention where it is needed.

2. Develop catered learning plan

After the assessment, we develop a learning plan where we can best achieve desired academic results.

3. Improve study skills and confidence

Over time, the student will develop confidence in tackling school work and subjects as well as, a healthy study habit.
